Disaster Relief

The Al-Zahoor Welfare Foundation has supported those in need through some of the worst disasters in Bangladesh in recent years. Some of these include the floods of 2020, COVID-19 appeals (see past disaster relief projects below).

Support is provided in the form of food packages that are distributed on the ground. Each package typically contains the below items at a cost of £10 feeding an average family for one week:

Rice – 12kg
Potatoes – 3kg
Lentils – 1kg
Flattened rice – 2kg
Onions – 2kg
Garlic – 500g
Cooking oil – 1 litre
Salt – 1kg
Spices
Soap
Washing powder

People in the poorest areas of Bangladesh save up throughout the entire year so they can rely on their savings to sustain themselves when natural disasters strike. However, this is often not enough; particularly since the pandemic.

With your help, Al-Zahoor Welfare Foundation will continue to support disaster-stricken areas as and when unfortunate events take place. This donation page has been set up to ensure funds are available for those most in need to ensure support can be arranged as fast as possible in the event of a disaster.

Please donate whatever you can so that we can help these people who have lost everything: their homes, cattle, crops and livelihood.
