Sponsor a Child’s Education
In Bangladesh, education is not funded by the government. All the children at our school come from extremely deprived backgrounds, many of whom are orphans, and their families are unable to afford school fees. As a result, all education costs are fully covered by the Al-Zahoor Welfare Foundation.
Currently, 100 children study at the Al-Zahoor Academy. We provide education for both boys and girls, with classes ranging from Year 1 to Year 8.
Al-Zahoor Academy is registered with the Bangladesh government and follows the national curriculum. As our students progress to Year 10, they will sit the Bangladeshi government’s Matric examinations, which are equivalent to the UK GCSEs.
In addition to the mainstream curriculum, some students also undertake Hifz (Qur’an memorisation) studies.
We are committed to supporting the children’s wellbeing as well as their education. Every child attending the Al-Zahoor Academy receives free, nutritious meals.
The monthly cost to educate one child is £20. This covers:
- School fees
- Books and stationery
- One nutritious meal per school day

In addition to the Academy, Al-Zahoor operates education centres within refugee camps serving Rohingya and Bihari communities, including a nursery, providing vital learning opportunities for some of the most vulnerable children. The Al-Zahoor Foundation fully funds the salaries of all teachers, supporting the education of over 200 children in these camps.
